'In 2006, on board the M/S Explorer (which has since sunk in 2009 in Antarctica), I entered into the North-West Passage via the Davis Strait. The pristine scenery of the numerous fjords, capes, icebergs, flowing glaciers and ice capes inspired my artistic blood and imagination to take on an oil medium. By squeezing tubes of paint directly applied onto the canvas, I have created 3-dimensional paintings which vividly reflect the harsh surfaces and elements of nature.  The heavy oil medium has taken 2+ years to be touch-dry.'       - Lendvay

In recent years Istvan traveled to Antarctica and to the Canadian and Scandinavian Arctic.  He has captured the essence of his experiences using his signature style of heavily textured paint, thus bringing to life the colours and topography of these remote environments..  These grouped works successfully represent Istvan's impression of the North-West passage and truly define the Arctic.
